World Boxing Championships

For the first time ever, the World Boxing Championships for elite men and women is coming to Liverpool.

From 4–14 September 2025, the M&S Bank Arena will welcome over 500 athletes from more than 60 countries, competing across 10 weight classes each for men and women. This will be the first time male and female boxers vie for the title of World Boxing Champion at the same event, making it the largest Olympic-style boxing competition in the UK since the London 2012 Olympics.

Culture Liverpool is celebrating the city’s boxing scene with a special Communities and Schools Programme. Working with creative and sporting partners, Culture Liverpool is delivering three unique artistic residencies in schools and neighbourhoods across the city. Together with local boxing clubs, they’re sharing local stories – from champions and triumphs to challenges overcome – shining a spotlight on the sport’s lasting impact on Liverpool’s past and present.
