Initially part of County District Centre Regeneration scheme, Culture Liverpool worked with local community groups and key stakeholders to deliver an innovative programme with a focus on ‘remember, reimagine and revitalise’.
‘Bridge’ was the first of many creative collaborations for the area in 2021. Since then we’ve worked with artists including poets, writers, spoken word artists and photographers to engage the community in exploring and celebrating their local community.
Open Eye Gallery were commissioned to deliver a socially engaged photographer residency in the area, with artist Lucy Hunter delivering free workshops with young people from Walton Youth & Community Project in visual storytelling and photography skills – leading to an exhibition called ‘A Place of Our Own – Exploring local stories of people across Walton, Prescot and Chester‘ at Open Eye Gallery. The work sits alongside a wider selection of work developed with local residents.
