Two cities. One rave!
This piece was produced by Jez Collins, UAME | MUSIC SAVES UA and Open Culture.
Rave UKraine united DJs and ravers across simultaneous live events in Liverpool and Kyiv, sending a message of support and solidarity to the people of Ukraine.
Using the power of music, Rave UKraine brought people from different cultures and countries together on the dance floor of Hanger 34 in Liverpool and HVLV Bar ft Hangout in Kyiv.
Hot Chip, the acclaimed band from the UK, performed a DJ set at the anticipated, one-off event.
Ukrainian DJ Mingulitka also played a set alongside icons of electronic music DJ Paulette, James Lavelle, Jodie Harsh, Sarah Story and Human Margareeta.
The event was a first of its kind: a party taking place in two cities, at the exact same time, thousands of miles apart – both broadcast via a livestream to make one singular, unifying rave.
Hanger 34 hosted the UK rave, while Kyiv’s HVLV Bar was the venue for the Ukrainian one. The acts announced for the Ukrainian rave at HVLV Bar were: Petya Cantrust, Jane, Raavel, Pledov and Lostlojik.
The daytime raves were streamed into both venues, connecting clubbers to each other in real time – and before Kyiv’s nightly curfew kicked in. A global audience was welcomed to the live-streamed Liverpool rave, and ticket sales and streaming proceeds were donated to Ukrainian humanitarian charity UAME | MUSIC SAVES UA.
