People’s Powerhouse has received funding support from Arts Council England to appoint local artists from Northern neighbourhoods to join the Coast-To-Coast journey as commissioned artist-listeners.
Coast to Coast is People’s Powerhouse’s (PP) listening and insight-gathering journey across the North of England. We have built a methodology and a platform for people to talk about their lives, their communities, and their hopes for the future. Artists will carry out 20 x 30min (10 hours approx) neighbourhood-based, local listening conversations in their local area (or a nearby/ easily commutable area).
Artists will be trained in the method. The conversations will cover what people are expressing about life, community, power, place, and hope. The People’s Powerhouse App will record them and from this you will be expected to create a response to the insights gathered.
Please submit the following to People@peoplespowerhouse.org.uk by midday on 11th July
1. A short statement (max 500 words) explaining:
o Your artistic practice.
o Why you are interested in this commission.
o How you would approach this opportunity creatively and ethically.
2. Examples of your work (website, PDF, portfolio, or media links).
3. Your CV or bio, including any relevant experience in community or place-based work.
