A brand new show will celebrate one of Liverpool’s first couples this summer, as the cast is unveiled for The Legend Of Rooney’s Ring. The summer blockbuster is the first theatre show written by Motherland and Amandaland writer Helen Serafinowicz.

Actor and comedian John May will make his Royal Court debut as Wayne, a mighty warrior and our hero, on a dangerous quest of heroic deeds. Emma Grace Arends is C’leen, the most beautiful woman in the whole kingdom, a humble bricklayer’s daughter from Crocky.

Also announced as part of the cast are Lindzi Germain as Queen Colette and Keddy Sutton as Nana.

The comedy is the ultimate Scouse sword and sorcery tale packed with magic, romance, original songs and the usual Royal Court gags. Based on a half-true rumour and pop culture myth, the story will take Wayne on a dastardly mission to win back his C’leen after she biffs his ring out of the window, over the hill and far away.

Directed by Stephen Fletcher and designed by Olivia Du Monceau it’s a show designed to bring laughs to a dark land.

Executive Producer Kevin Fearon says,

“It’s our mission to put Liverpool stories on stage, and there is no greater Liverpool love story than this. We’re delighted to be welcoming Helen Serafinowicz to the Royal Court family. The show is very, very funny – think our Christmas show but with better weather! It’s never been more important for us to give our audiences a good laugh and a great night out, or afternoon if they decide to come for a matinee. Tickets start at £17 because we’re committed to making performances available for everyone”.
