Liz Harry, creator of artwork Positive Spin at River of Light 2024.

I’ve always lived in Liverpool and it’s where I originally began my career as a freelance graphic designer creating album covers for the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Jessie J, Nicki Minaj and The Feeling. Although I enjoyed the work, after my third child, I felt a shift and wanted to create visuals that reflected more of myself.

I’m a dopamine dresser and I have a passion for bold design so I started creating brighter and more colourful art. I hadn’t really promoted my artwork on social media but as I wanted to share my illustrations, I signed up for an Instagram and posted whenever I could.

My work usually centred around mental health and after some time, my pieces started to get popular, so I turned a few designs into products such as keychains and prints. Before long, I found creating illustrations and products was taking up all my time. I decided to move on from music projects to focus on creating colourful products full-time.

As my small business has grown, I’ve continued following my excitement towards things that bring me joy and I guess I’ve re-embraced a lot of stuff from my youth that I loved before I grew up and became a ‘responsible adult.’ This includes things like creating halloween costumes, decorating my rainbow home or repurposing giant gumball machines – as it happens, that kind of excitement translates well on social media, and I have working with brands like Adobe, Haribo, Vans, BIC, Bundobust, Dylon and more recently, Pets At Home with OTT pet wear!

I couldn’t think of a better themed year to be involved with River of Light. As a joy-seeker, there’s always been a playful element running through my work. I really hope everyone enjoys what Invisble Wind Factory and I have come up with – and that you’ll join us for a ‘play’ this Autumn!
