To preserve years of documentation of dance in Liverpool the board of directors of Merseyside Dance Initiative (MDI) – Together Hope Street (THS) have issued an open call for materials to be donated to Liverpool Hope University.
The ambition is to digitize all of the information received, including DVD’s, videos, images, poster and documentation and make the entire collection available to and for Liverpool and beyond.
Present sifting of archive material from the last 30-40 years is revealing the people, projects, arts, connections, well-being and health benefits and creativity, highlighting the vibrant and rich dance culture and the myriad of practices, approaches and connections between communities and artists.
This project is an ongoing journey, which seeks to further instigate meetings, events, connections and performances.
How to get involved:
Have you danced, moved, created with, supported, advised and documented the work of MDI/THS? Are you happy to share copied/original images, texts and documentation to this project? If so, we would love to hear from you and if possible, add your materials to the archive. Copies and information such as dates and venues are welcome. Please do not send materials you want returned.
