In 2024, Liverpool officially handed over the Eurovision baton to Malmö after a monumental year for the city.
But our Eurovision story isn’t over!
We want Liverpool to become the UK’s Capital of Eurovision, building on the legacy that the city has created and the unifying power of music. By creating a range of content for local and regional audiences to come and enjoy as well as specific programming so that audiences travel to Liverpool to take part in the festivities, we hope that this can become an annual highlight in the calendar and that if you can’t get to the Grand Final itself, then the next best thing is to be in Liverpool on Saturday 11 May!
What is the opportunity?
This a unique commissioning call out to support organisations from the cultural and night-time economy to create content that will animate the city and support our ambition to bring back the joy of Eurovision to the streets and help drive audiences into the city centre.
We are looking for expressions of interests from creatives, artists, makers and performers, along with businesses from the Liverpool night-time economy sector, to help transform the city with Eurovision related activity and venue specific activity on Saturday 11 May.
There is one strand of commissioning that splits as follows:
1. 10 x £500 – Eurovision in Liverpool Commission
2. 5 x £1000 – Eurovision in Liverpool Commission
Eurovision in Liverpool
These commissions will celebrate the passion, diversity of spirit, variety of opinion and sheer joy of Eurovision in the heart of the UK’s most exciting and welcoming city.
These commissions should be creative, fun and inclusive and be a direct response to everything that the Eurovision Song Contest represents.
Funding
Due to the tight timeline of this commissioning round, there is no expectation of any match funding towards the delivery of the project.
However, examples where match can be found or offered through in-kind resource or wrapped into a wider Eurovision related programme will be looked on favourably through the process.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for proposals that will either help bring the spirit of Eurovision to the streets of Liverpool City centre and which will drive significant additional footfall into a specific venue or area of the city.
Proposals should:
- Creatively respond to the theme of Eurovision.
- Show creative, engaging, and accessible work.
- Show willingness to work in collaboration with other artists, organisations, venues (inc. bars, restaurants, theatres, music halls etc.) and producers.
- Show you can deliver high-quality work in a short timeframe.
