Any Accessibility Advice?
- Assistance animals are welcome: However, due to crowds and loud noises, we advise against bringing pets that are not trained assistance animals.
- Bring a companion if needed: The event environment may be unpredictable. Having someone to assist you, or someone you trust, can provide reassurance and practical support if needed.
- Prepare for limited facilities: There will be no toilets or specific accessible facilities along the route, so plan accordingly.
- There will be viewing opportunities along the entire parade route, however, there are no designated accessible viewing areas for this event due to its scale and nature.
- Stay hydrated and protected: Bring water, wear weather-appropriate clothing, and be prepared for long periods of standing or waiting.
- Choose a less congested location: While the entire route will have activity, some areas are likely to be less crowded than others, particularly away from major landmarks or city centre sections. You may wish to consider finding a spot towards the start of the route, or on wider streets where there’s more space to move around.
- Arrive early: Getting to your chosen spot ahead of the crowds can help you settle in before the area gets busy, reducing sensory stress and allowing more choice of where to stand.
- Bring sensory aids: Feel free to bring noise-cancelling headphones, sunglasses, or anything else that helps you feel more comfortable in busy environments.
- Take breaks when needed: If things become overwhelming, stepping away for a short time or moving to a quieter area may help you reset.
- There’s no need to stay for the entire parade – it’s okay to leave early or move on if it becomes too much.

Have you got any measures in place to help with lost children?
We’re asking parents / carers / guardians to take a photo of children BEFORE attending the parade. Should you be separated, this will help identify them quickly. Stewards will also be distributing wristbands on which you can write the number of a responsible adult and attach it to a child / vulnerable person. If you lose a youngster during the parade, please alert your nearest steward or member of Merseyside Police immediately.
Can I bring flares to the event?
The use of flares, pyrotechnics, or anything similar is strictly prohibited.
The use of pyrotechnics poses risk of injury to fellow fans and serious health risks.
Can I fly my drone?
No drones are allowed on the parade route and any unauthorized drones will be removed.
Will there be parking facilities?
We strongly advise people do not drive – particularly into the city centre – and ask fans to either walk and try and view the parade as close to home as possible.

Will there be road closures?
The Strand will be closed northbound on 26 May from Blundell Street junction to Leeds Street / Old Hall Street junction from 4am until it is safe to re-open.
The southbound lane will be closed from approx. 12pm again subject to crowd safety requirements.
Additionally, Leeds Street City bound will be closed from 12pm until approx. 8pm.
The closures for Allerton Maze, Queen’s Drive, Millbank, West Derby Road (outward bound), Erskine Street, Islington, Hunter Street and Leeds Street will not be implemented until the parade approaches, unless the crowd volumes dictate otherwise.
The Queen’s Drive flyover section at the Rocket junction will be closed to traffic and pedestrians from approx. 10am until the parade has passed.
West Derby Road city bound will also be closed from Sheil Road at 2pm until the conclusion of the parade in this area.
I want to attend the parade, how do I get there?
Due to the high volume of attendees and widespread road closures in place, we advise against driving to a location away from your nearest viewing point as parking will not be available. We advise that you:
- Plan ahead: Familiarise yourself with the full parade route in advance. Choose a viewing spot that’s close to accessible transport links or within comfortable distance from your home.
- Plan your journey in advance – check merseytravel.gov.uk for up-to-date information on public transport services. Allow extra time as services may be delayed or diverted due to road closures.
- Avoid peak times: Crowds and public transport will be particularly busy before and after the event. Arriving early may help you secure a less crowded space.
- Bring any necessary support equipment: Ensure wheelchairs, mobility aids, or other equipment are fully charged or prepared for extended use in busy environments.
- Avoid driving: There will be widespread road closures across the city.
- Taxis and drop-offs: Be aware that vehicle access will be very limited due to road closures. If you’re planning a drop-off, do so as close to your chosen location as permitted by event stewards or local restrictions.
Will the parade go ahead if there is bad weather?
Yes. British weather can be unpredictable, so please plan for the weather.
Out of consideration for others, we kindly ask that you avoid using umbrellas, as they can obstruct the view for those behind you. If you do bring an umbrella, you may be asked to take it down.
Please take the necessary precautions with sun cream, hats, sunglasses and appropriate attire for children, young people, adults and the elderly if the weather is warm.
Can I bring my dog along?
We strongly advise against bringing any pets, other than assistance animals, to the parade due to large crowds and loud noises, which may be distressing to animals.
I need to contact someone with a concern / query about the parade?
If you have a parade-related question email cultureliverpool@liverpool.gov.uk.
