Imagine Bamboo is Everywhere is set to take over the Liverpool City Region this summer in a series of family-friendly outdoor events with giant bamboo structures, performances, circus, music and crafting.
Beginning back in spring 2023, this wonderful programme has brought together residents, young people and emerging climate leaders, community groups and organisers including partners, academics, engineers and artists – culminating in six outdoor events in each of the city boroughs throughout August.
Imagine Bamboo is Everywhere builds upon the 2021 Bridge event in Liverpool and the R&D work in 2022 with the Liverpool City Region (LCR), Culture Liverpool and the other local authority areas of Halton, Knowsley, Sefton, St Helens, and Wirral.
Once again we are thrilled to be working with Imagineer Productions and Creative Director Orit Azaz in a unique creative enquiry, who together with engineers Atelier One, bamboo specialists, local residents and artists explore bamboo as a sustainable material for the future.
The project focuses on UK grown borinda bamboo which originates in mountainous Tibet and was first brought to the UK by botanist Keith Rushforth, on behalf of University of Liverpool, where it continues to flourish at Ness Botanic Gardens.
Imagine Bamboo is Everywhere is part of the LCR Cultural Events programme, delivered in partnership with Imagineer and Culture Liverpool with independent Creative Director Orit Azaz.
