This June, Café Tabac is proud to host a brand new photography exhibition celebrating the early years of one of Liverpool’s most iconic performers, Pete Burns of Dead or Alive.

Total Stranger: The Unseen Photographs of Pete Burns and Dead or Alive 1978–1983.
Opens Saturday 7 June | Free entry

The exhibition features 16 stunning black & white images by rock photographer Francesco Mellina, capturing Pete’s fearless style, magnetic energy, and the creative spirit of Liverpool’s late ‘70s and early ‘80s music scene.

Francesco and Pete were friends long before the fame – meeting at the legendary Eric’s club and spending countless hours hanging out right here at Tabac. So bringing these photos back to this space really is a homecoming.

The works are on display until December, and you can view anytime during café opening hours.

Francesco’s book to accompany the show is also available via march-design.co.uk & Waterstones Liverpool One.

Come take a look – whether you’re a fan of music, photography, or just love Liverpool’s rich creative history, this one’s for you.
