Liverpool Urban Sketchers are celebrating their tenth year of drawing and painting around Merseyside with a weekend of workshops presented by well-known Urban Sketchers, and on-street drawing sessions at which more than a hundred artists—amateur and professional, locally based and from farther afield—will be sketching on location across Liverpool city centre.

The group are also publishing a book, ‘Liverpool, by Urban Sketchers’, featuring the work of fifty-seven artists over 120 pages, to be launched at the Arts Bar, Hope Street on Friday 6 September.

The workshops (£15 per person, at Mann Island) and book launch are ticketed events, but the on-street drawing is free and open to anyone who wants to come along on the day. Participants are asked to register on Eventbrite to give organisers an idea of numbers.

The weekend programme begins on Friday 6 September, meeting by the steps of the RC Cathedral for drawing around Hope Street and the Georgian Quarter from 2pm to 5pm.

Two sessions on Saturday 7 September will see sketchers meeting at Mann Island Winter Gardens for drawing around the Waterfront (10am to 1pm, and 2pm to 5pm).

For the final session on Sunday 8 September (10am to 1pm), sketchers will meet at William Brown Street for drawing around the Museum Quarter, Lime Street, and Dale Street, assembling at 1.00 for a group photograph on the steps of St George’s Hall.

Anyone who loves Liverpool or just wants to have a go at drawing will find this an enjoyable weekend.
