A live presentation of ‘Moradas’, the first album by flamenco guitarist and composer Carlos Van Tongeren, inspired by modern flamenco, jazz, ambient.

‘Moradas’ is the first album by flamenco guitarist and composer Carlos Van Tongeren. This project started in 2019 when Carlos moved to Manchester, after living and working in the Netherlands, Spain and elsewhere in Europe. He has dedicated his life to flamenco and has spent extended periods in Andalusia to work and study with some of the best guitarists and performers.

The nine tracks of Moradas are dedicated to different journeys and homecomings (morada means ‘home’ in Spanish), taking the listener across a range of emotions and atmospheres, inspired by modern flamenco but also by jazz, ambient, and other styles.

For this live presentation of Moradas, produced by Espíritu Flamenco, Carlos will host a group of exceptional musicians from Spain, including the cantaor (flamenco singer) Cristo Heredia from Almeria who delighted local audiences in previous shows in the north west, and the dancer Sara Carnero who is the niece of the legendary flamenco dancer ‘La Lupi’.

Flamenco quintet:
Carlos Van Tongeren – Guitar
David Galiano and José Antonio Rojas – Percussion
Cristo Heredia – Vocals
Sara Carnero – Dance
