Quilling is an historical papercraft in which narrow strips of paper are rolled, shaped and glued to form decorative designs.
It is thought to have originated in Europe during the Renaissance period (15th–16th century), where it was practised by nuns and monks, before becoming popular in Britain in the 18th century among ‘ladies of leisure’.
This workshop is a full day of creativity and inspiration. Design a quilled border around a name or word, with a professional calligrapher completing the centre. Suitable for beginners and experienced quillers. New and experienced quillers alike will be able to create a quilled border around a name or word, specially scribed by a professional calligrapher. If you prefer, you can also spend time working on a quilling project of your own, and there will be an opportunity for you to display and share any quilled creations that you would like to bring along.
