Friday 1 November, 5pm – 8pm
Mann Island Atrium, Liverpool Waterfront, L3 1BP
River of Light 2024 sees a debut collaboration between River of Light and Milap, who together are bringing a series of Indian performance artists together on 1 November, to mark Diwali celebrations in Liverpool.
Europe’s leading Indian brass band Bombay Baja will perform three live sets of dance and music performance around the art installation. Combining popular Indian melodies with the powerful rhythms of the Dhol, the performance will create a carnival atmosphere of colour and fun, with the chance for everyone to join in and dance! Expect Bollywood and Bhangra dancing as they ring in the joy of Diwali.
Accompanying the spectacle this year, the incredibly talented Piano with Bhav will prepare a selection of some of the most beautiful Bollywood melodies to play alongside the installation. Bhav’s music will be an integral part of your experience, taking you on a musical journey.
All performances will take place near to the Indian-inspired light installation, Rangoli Mirrored Cosmos. Programmed by Culture Liverpool for River of Light 2024, the piece was originally commissioned by Greenwich Peninsula for Diwali. The artwork is a vivid three-dimensional sculpture, representing the interconnectivity of existence, created by internationally renowned artist, Murugiah.
Absorb the magic of Diwali by immersing yourself in River of Light this Autumn.
