Imagine Bamboo is Everywhere 2023 builds on the inter-disciplinary collaboration between artists, engineers, designers, architects, activists, academics, growers, sustainability specialists, entrepreneurs, educators, public sector agencies including transport & travel, built environment, health and local authority departments and communities, locally, nationally and internationally. The Imagine Bamboo project is led by Creative Director Orit Azaz and produced by Imagineer.
The creative development process was led by Creative Director Orit Azaz, with consultant designers Dan Potra, Jed Long (Cave Urban) and Jo Pocock (Lantern Company), consultant engineers Atelier One, producer and production support from Culture Liverpool, producer Lou Lomas for Imagineer and creative technologist Edie Jo Murray, with input from Taking Root lead artist Ling Tan, bamboo academic David Trujillo, bamboo designer Rebecca Reubens (India), bamboo educator and artist Holland (Vietnam), bamboo bike entrepreneur Bernice Dapaah (Ghana) and bamboo engineering educators BambooU (Bali).
This core creative team helped facilitate and support the growing network of Imagine Bamboo collaborators based in the Liverpool City Region (LCR): professional circus artist and animateur Grace Neville Evans; Pagoda Arts; 12 LCR artist-makers who led on the design and build of bespoke bamboo installations, musicians who collaborated to create Imagine Bamboo Orchestra 2023, and physical performers who worked alongside NoFit State Circus and Imagineer in their Bamboo Circus R&D.
