Julian Taylor
Julian Taylor is a Liverpool-based artist and sculptor who is reintroducing Hetty the horse ahead of the Year of the Horse celebrations. Hetty was originally created several years ago for the Manchester Day Pakistan community. Designed to dance atop a wheeled stage structure, the sculpture was animated using strings and ropes, giving it lively, expressive movement.
After its debut, Hetty went on to perform at Glastonbury, which proved to be a memorable and joyful appearance. Since then, the piece has been in storage, waiting for the right moment to return. Now, Taylor is bringing Hetty back to life for Chinese New Year, restoring the sculpture and preparing it for performance once again.
With the help of skilled puppeteers, Hetty will be revitalised and ready to delight audiences.
Artemis Stiltwalking
Artemis have long been cherished contributors to Liverpool’s Chinese New Year celebrations, returning year after year to help transform the festivities with their signature energy and spectacle. Their dazzling stilt performances have become a much‑loved tradition, adding height, colour, and theatrical flair to the weekend’s events.
It simply wouldn’t feel like Chinese New Year in Liverpool without Artemis Stiltwalking gracing the streets. They continue to raise the bar with every appearance, and we hope audiences enjoy their vibrant artistry just as much as they enjoy pushing their craft to new heights each year.
