BBC Radio Mersyside have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join their broadcasting team, for one day only, to act as a reporter for some of BBC Merseyside’s coverage of Radio 1’s Big Weekend.

You will be joining BBC Mersyside to support their local coverage of the music festival which is being hosted in Liverpool, to support the broadcast team at BBC Radio Merseyside and help offer a locally charged flavour of the event for the listeners.

You don’t need any prior experience of broadcasting or radio. They are looking for your passion for music, local events and storytelling.

This is an opportunity to gain a once in a lifetime experience working with professional broadcasters to deliver BBC Merseyside’s coverage of the event. You will be provided with training and coaching to support you in this role.

If selected, you will be need to available on the following dates: 20 May/21 May (training/briefing at Radio Merseyside) and 24 May (on location at event).

All audition entrants must be 18 or over before the closing date of Monday 5 May at 17:00.

How it will work:

Your uploaded submission will be reviewed by a panel of BBC judges.

Each judge will mark the entry “Yes” or “No”.

A short list of five will be chosen by the panel before the final decision is made.

You’ll be judged on your storytelling ability and passion for music.

Judges will only listen to and consider the first 60 seconds of your uploaded material.

You are not judged on the quality of your video and no prior experience is necessary.

What the judges are looking for:

  • Evidence of your passion for music
  • The ability to describe the gig and what made it special for you.
  • Your ability to tell a story in an engaging way

If you are selected, you will be asked to join the production team on the following dates: 20 May/21 May (training/briefing at Radio Merseyside) and 24 May (on location at event).

Please note, if you are unable to attend these dates we are unlikely to continue with your audition.

Travel to various BBC offices maybe required and reasonable travel expenses will be supported by the BBC.

Auditions will close on Monday 5 May at 17:00.
