When Taylor Swift announced her Eras Tour would stop in Liverpool, the city knew it was in for something magical. But Culture Liverpool and Make CIC took it a step further, creating an unforgettable experience for fans with the Taylor Town Trail, an event that’s just bagged a national award!
The team recently picked up ‘Regional Event of the Year’ at the National Outdoor Events Association Awards for the Taylor Town Trail – and it’s easy to see why.
Let’s rewind to June 2024. Liverpool was buzzing with Swifties from all over the world, flocking to Anfield Stadium for three nights of Taylor Swift’s sold-out ‘The Eras Tour’. But the city didn’t just roll out the red carpet; it painted it with every shade of Swift’s career. The Taylor Town Trail turned Liverpool into a living, breathing celebration of Taylor Swift’s music, and fans couldn’t get enough.
11 Eras, 11 Artworks, One Unforgettable Experience
The Taylor Town Trail featured 11 original artworks, each inspired by one of Taylor’s albums—from her country roots in Taylor Swift to the lyrical anthology of The Tortured Poets Department.
Artworks included a Taylor-inspired RED room, a picture-perfect polaroid installation inspired by 1989, a regal snake covered throne as a nod to Reputation, a moss covered piano for the folklore vibes and lots more.
Each piece was created by local artists from Make CIC, blending Taylor’s aesthetic with Liverpool’s creative spirit. Fans loved exploring the trail, snapping photos, and sharing their favourites on social media. What’s better than a treasure hunt through Liverpool, with Taylor Swift as your guide?
More Than Just a Trail
This wasn’t just about the amazing art (although it was gorgeous). The Taylor Town Trail was a masterclass in city-wide collaboration. By placing the installations in locations like Liverpool ONE, Bluecoat, the Baltic Triangle, Metquarter, Royal Albert Dock Liverpool and Mann Island; Culture Liverpool and Make CIC, in collaboration with VisitLiverpool, encouraged fans to explore the city, discover hidden gems, and support local businesses along the way.
From quirky cafes to independent shops, Taylor Swift themed brunches and parties, the trail gave Swifties a taste of Liverpool’s vibrant community. And the fans gave back in spades, flooding the city with energy, creativity, and a whole lot of glitter.
Special Taylor-themed craft workshops titled, ‘Liverpool Loves Taylor (Craft Version)’ also inspired buckets of creativity amongst attendees, transforming t-shirts, upcycling denim, making collages and decorating cupcakes were all on the crafting agenda.
And the Award Goes To…
Fast forward to now, and the Taylor Town Trail is officially award-winning. Culture Liverpool and Make CIC have been recognised for their incredible work, and it’s no surprise. This event wasn’t just about Taylor Swift; it was about bringing people together, celebrating creativity, and showcasing Liverpool as a cultural hotspot.
Fans couldn’t stop raving about the trail, calling it a highlight of their Eras Tour experience. It wasn’t just an event—it was a memory, a vibe, and a love letter to both Taylor Swift and Liverpool.
For now, though, Culture Liverpool and Make CIC deserve to soak up the spotlight. They didn’t just host an event; they created a cultural moment that Swifties—and the city—will never forget.
Liverpool, you’re fearless.
