Join one of the UK’s premier open air touring theatre companies – The Lord Chamberlain’s Men – in the Garden Theatre at Calderstones Park this summer for the timeless and classic love story, Romeo and Juliet.

With a history stretching back to William Shakespeare himself, they present this great play as he first saw it, in the open air, with an all-male cast and Elizabethan costumes, music and dance.

Packed with memorable poetry, devastating twists and turns, and burning passion this is without doubt the greatest love story ever told.

This is an outdoor production, so please bring your own chair or blanket to sit on, a picnic to dig into, and dress for the weather!

Notes on performance:

  • Gates open one hour before, so do come early and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. There will be delicious food options to enjoy before or while you watch the performance or you are welcome to bring along a picnic. Please note that due to our license, only alcohol purchased on The Reader’s premises may be consumed at this event.
  • Chairs, blankets and any other low-level accessories are welcome.
  • In the event of rain, please don’t bring umbrellas as they block sight-lines for other audience members. Ponchos and raincoats are just as fetching, so please wear these instead.
