This 10 week course will teach you to perfect the human figure across a programme of lessons developing your skills in life drawing, including accurate measuring, shading and drawing techniques.
Lessons will take place every Monday evening from 6pm – 8pm starting on 30th January until 3rd April 2023. This is suitable for both newcomers / beginners and for those continuing from previous courses, as the tutor will tailor the material to individual participants.
Programme:
The course is aimed at adults of any age, both beginners and the more advanced, who want to directly work from a human model or still life.
There will be a human model for most of the sessions, performing very short, short and long poses giving the students a chance to practice drawing at various speeds. We also will make use of still life and/or sculpture as well as printed pictures to practice on specific skills.
The main method that is taught and practiced in the course is the traditional ‘stick measurement and ‘sight-size drawing method’. However, the following topics will be covered throughout the course:
The sight-size method versus the comparative method of drawing
Using alignments, angles, relative proportions, and cross points in figure drawing
Postural drawing and quick drawing
Human body proportions
Shades and values
Foreshortening
