The artwork featured in the library and on banners along County Road originated from ‘Poetry on the Pillar’, a creative project by Walton community. Commissioned by Culture Liverpool, the artworks you see were created collaboratively by Liverpool Poetry Space, (with visual poems and artistic direction from Chris McCabe), The Windows Project, Northcote Primary School and Walton Youth & Community Project. The poems, written by local residents, are themed around home, community pride and reclaiming the underpass and include new commissions from poets Angela Cheveau and Joseph Roberts.

The project forms part of Liverpool City Council’s County District Centre and Next Generation Neighbourhoods programmes.
